Grayshott Folk Club presents: RÉALTA (on tour from Northern Ireland)Saturday 30th September 2017 at 7:30 pm
Here at Grayshott Folk Club, we have a great track record of bringing the very best in traditional Irish/Celtic Folk music to our audiences
Altan, The Henry Girls, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, The Outside Track, Crossharbour, Blackthorn and Connla have all been our guests in the past.
Réalta take up the baton and are another great band in that mould. They are a cracking 5-piece traditional Celtic/Irish Folk band from Belfast. Described by Irish Music Magazine as: “A full bodied pipe and whistle extravaganza”,
Réalta make full use of the intricate melodies and driving rhythms that make Irish music so much loved throughout the world. Performing on dueling uilleann pipes, whistles, bodhrán, guitar, bouzouki, double bass and vocals, this award-winning, Belfast-based band will lead the listener on a journey of music and song through the full range of the Irish tradition…… or as Herald Scotland put it;
“Réalta carry on the Bothy Band tradition of taking tunes by the scruff of the neck and firing excitement through them like hot flames!"
You'll hear strains of Planxty too.
If you love traditional Irish/Celtic Folk music, don't miss these guys.
+ Zak Hobbs-Zak is an up and coming young guitarist/singer/songwriter.
"His repertoire is an appealing mix of self-penned material, interpretations of the songs of others and instrumentals. Of the younger brigade currently on the scene, I’d say he has more of a future than most."
