Dear subscriber
Grayshott Pottery seem always to be in the news and this week they have conjured up yet another article this time about the launch of their new visitor leaflet which on close inspection looks strangely familiar. It aims to entice us muggles into coming along to see their many attractions and has been cleverly designed to appeal to any Tom, Dick or Harry. And that's magic!
Grayshott Guardian 'BIG Dick' Smith is always looking out for the interests of Grayshott businesses and it's good to know we have our very own caped crusader prowling the streets on our behalf. When Dick spied signs in the village, brazenly displayed outside St Luke's no less, advertising a Chip Shop in Churt, and even though he was just leaving for yet another holiday, he was straight onto the red phone at the Parish Council office to raise the alarm, leaving them to tackle the greasy interlopers. Holy Batter!, Batman.
St Luke's Holiday Club, home of the 'Chip Shop Church', was a great success and 60 children enjoyed the weeks activities which included some fancy dressing up at Rocky's Plaice - now you wouldn't catch me in some daft rocky costume. Gordon Sanderson has posted some lovely photos on the website of the youngsters clearly enjoying themseves and as I watched the slideshow I smiled all the way.
Grayshott Concerts are getting very excited about their next musical extravaganza on 11th September 'Emperor' and have decided to give their new event sponsors The Bathroom Grayshott a plug. Now I can't take the credit for that one. If you ever get that sinking feeling just tap into a bit of Beethoven or Mendelssohn and all your blues will simply wash away.
Great Uncle Bulgaria has organised a Litter Pick this Saturday morning and will see you at 10am in the car park by Peter Leete and Partners and then will treat you to a free drink at the Fox & Pelican afterwards. Another example of BIG Richard making good use of bad rubbish but watch out for those sharp objects Dick. Holey Bin-Bag!, Batman.
The square is almost finished yippee! A few more days to put the finishing touches and we can start celebrating our new village centre attraction and pouring money into our beleaguered square shops. You can be sure we will be organising an opening do to which you'll all be invited and I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the new semi-circular platform 'stage' in action and ramping it up.
And it's music on the menu tonight too as we get to play eeny, meeny, miny, moe as we have to choose between Beats Working at the Fox, Vic Cracknell's acoustic gig at the Punchbowl, Karaoke at the Club or we could just go for a quiet meal in one of Grayshott's finest restaurants.
Friday night always presents me with a dilemma anyway and over the years I have developed a coping strategy which I'm pleased to say is catching on. Holy Beers!, Batman.
Have a knockout weekend !-)
