Dear subscriber
As promised last week we have news of the Shakesperience which included a gourmet bbq and polo match before 'Love's Labours Lost' was performed to a record audience of 400 at Applegarth. It may be shutting the horsebox door but I came across www.theshakesperience.com which tells you everything you should have known about this groundbreaking collaborative event for Grayshott Concerts, Applegarth and polo4. Let's hope they'll be another... In the meantime we have Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto and Mendelssohn's Italian symphony, performed by the London Mozart players with soloist Howard Shelley, to look forward to at the next Grayshott Concert, Emperor, at St Luke's Church on Sat 11th September - you'll not be surprised to hear half the tickets have already been snapped up.
Also in the news Fathers and Sons at Grayshott Cricket Club have been battling it out to raise funds for Macmillan and the club was pleased on their fundraising evening to also catch another years sponsorship by Grayshott Pottery who are busy preparing for their Raku day on 24th July.
The Grayshott Gardeners summer show last Saturday was the usual riot of colour and testament to the many green fingers in Grayshott that take on the many pests and diseases each year and win, mostly. This year Grayshott primary school joined in the fun by growing herbs in decorated containers, in addition to their outstanding efforts on Beech allotments. It's never too early to learn the joys of horticulture and the boys and girls from PK Pre-School were spotted picnicking on Hill Road allotments yesterday. The Little Sunflowers say a fond goodbye to Bridget this Saturday at her retirement party which celebrates her 26 years with the pre-school held at the village hall. Grayshott Decorative and Fine Arts Society have also recently taken to the garden but simply to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
It's all change at the Parish Council as they slim down their meeting schedule by combining recreation & amenities and policy & resources into general meetings. The next one is on Monday 19th July and there is an open invitation on the foot of the agenda to say that members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting.
Elmer the patchwork elephant is coming to Grayshott on Oct 2nd and will be the first in a series of entertainments aimed at 4 to 7 year olds being put on by the newly formed Grayshott Children's Theatre. Organiser Rachel Coates has told me that Kaighin & Daughter will be making special Elmer sausages to mark the occasion - Jumbo bangers I imagine. Their bags for life are certainly getting around with latest monthly winner of their ongoing competion to bag £1,000 photographed atop the O2 arena which after all the pre millennium hype and post millennium gripe turned out to be anything but a white elephant.
Have a good week
