Dear subscriber
If you are feeling a bit hungover you're not alone, but at least you won't feel quite as frustrated as the voters who queued for hours only to be disenfranchised at underprepared polling stations - perhaps they should have held them instead in breweries.
Well hung or not we can still congratulate our new MP Damian Hinds and neighbouring MP's Jeremy Hunt and James Arbuthnot who all at least hold a convincing Conservative majority in their seats. The same can be said of England as a whole of course and it may wrankle that a decisive result has been denied England by our contrarian british neighbours who are making themselves a great case for devolution.
If you're fed up with elections Grayshott Concerts offer the antidote on Saturday 15th May with their next concert at St Luke's Church. As Peter Harrison tells us, you can forget all about Mandelson as Martin Plays Mendelssohn - music to my ears.
Another way to eradicate pests and diseases is to take advice from Pippa Greenwood of Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time fame. She is giving a talk to the Grayshott Gardeners members next Wednesday and non-members are most welcome to come along with tickets at £5 available in advance from Grayshott Books and also, I feel sure, on the door.
The work on the square is coming on a pace and although access to all the shops has been maintained the building site and loss of the parking bay may be temporarily putting some people off shopping there. I'm sure once it is all finished they will thrive but until such time a plea on their behalf - please make an extra effort to support the square businesses during the refurb. Until the new paving by the Co-op is finished disabled access is temporarily down Avenue Road, behind the shops and through the alleyway by Macmillan.
The original Fox & Pelican sign painted by Walter Crane in 1899 has been found by eagle eyed Phil Bates and rescued from being auctioned off to collectors by the Pottery Community fund. Now that must be worth a free pint Phil!
The pub also this week hosted the launch of the new Grayshott Support network which by all accounts was itself well supported. This new group is yet another testament to the caring BIG society already to be found live and kicking in Grayshott - perhaps our politicians would do well to take note - perhaps they already have!
Have a good weekend
