Dear subscriber
There are two important exhibitions being held this weekend, one on traffic calming and the other on sports & recreation, which in very different ways will affect Grayshott's future and so I recommend you find time to
take them both in and most importantly feedback your views to the organisers.
The Proposed Traffic Calming in Grayshott exhibition in the Village Hall is on this afternoon up to 7pm and Saturday morning 10am to midday and there is also an accompanying leaflet doing the rounds explaining the plans and options available.
A local 'traffic' group formed a while back, made up of residents and the movers and shakers in Grayshott, to take a long hard look at this and is recommending that we should wait until after the new A3 Hindhead tunnel has been opened so that the actual effects on traffic flows in Grayshott can be measured before deciding what to do. The point being that any traffic calming we end up with, if any, is best determined by looking at actual rather than modelled traffic figures which wouldn't be out of place in Alice's Wonderland. As long as we can be assured the funding can be protected to allow this delay, this option does seem to be a no-brainer, but go along and make up your own mind.
The Grayshott Sports and Recreation Exhibition is also on Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm but at Grayshott Social Club. There is a very clearly laid out display put together by Visual Assets showing the plans for improving sport and recreational facilities in the village and members of the GS&R study team will be on hand to answer questions. The plans include various possible layouts for a new pavilion, tennis courts and multi use games area (MUGA) at the Rec. If you can't get along tomorrow morning, the display will be spending the rest of the weekend at the Pavilion and in various points around the village over the next week - watch this space. You can also view the display online and email your views to gsr@grayshott.com
It's just two weeks to go to the Rock'n'Horror Panto Show and tickets are selling fast at Grayshott Books for the three performances - 7.30pm Friday 12th & 2pm & 5pm on Saturday 13th March. Trust me when I say this is one panto not to be missed.
The following weekend is Messiah at St Luke's Church and the great man himself will be there - that is Grayshott Concerts patron Karl Jenkins.
And in between we have a night out at the movies with Morris: A Life with Bells on. At first I thought this was all about Noddies car but apparently it is a very British comedy about Extreme Morris Dancing and you can imagine the director had plenty of raw material to work with there.
Looking way ahead you may have spotted the Stagers next production is Little Shop of Horrors which many years ago inspired me to be a dentist and the Grayshott Summer Ball is back and black, and white, and black tie, and is open to all comers who like to wine, dine and shine on the dance floor to live rockin poppin music. Well posh!
Rugby fans cup runneth over with Guinness this weekend as England play Ireland at 4pm on Saturday in the Six nations and we have two warm up games - tonight at 8pm Wales v France (early beers) and tomorrow at 1.30pm Scotland v Italy (early tears). You could of course watch all these matches at the Social Club and then collapse in a heap at their Cabaret Night - well that's my plan anyhow. The evenings entertainment of music and comedy is provided by the 'Timeshare Showband' - and you are invited along for a drink later at the club to hear all about this exciting investment opportunity. Tickets £10 available on the door.
Have a good weekend.
