Dear subscriber
If you have ventured out of Grayshott this week you will have enjoyed the latest route change which now brings northbound A3 traffic from the Liphook onto the new A3 southbound carriageway in a contra flow system, starting just south of The Spaniard, and then up to the Hazel Grove intersection. The next phase is the construction of the new northbound dual carriageway which will take about six months. The 'old' A3 south of Hazel Grove is for the next six months the only link between the A3 and Bramshott Chase and Hammer Lane and will have temporary traffic lights for the next three weeks. The Hammer Lane slip road off the Northbound carriageway is for obvious reasons closed for six months so you have to come off at Hazel Grove instead. Did you get all that? Perhaps you should go and see for yourself.
In the news this week....
Congratulations to Amity Ladies Fashions & Accessories who scooped up the award for the best dressed shop in Grayshott at the BIG awards dinner held in the Fox & Pelican last Sunday. There was some hot competition from runners up Blaze House Art and many category prize winners. See the full story and photos.
Grayshott Pottery have a new Production Director, Glenn Myers. Many of you will know Glenn who started work there in 1988 when he was just 17, or will recognise him from the news release photo. Back then the company made clocks for many High Street bands and I'm sure we will be seeing much more of Glenn in future pottery press releases as some of the old timers enjoy their retirement.
Ferris has just published his latest newsletter and as usual planning and conservation issues dominate especially with some recent contentious infill applications, and the thorny '50 houses' issue - please give it a read and stay abreast of local issues.
What's on....
Next week is half term for many and if you are looking for some activities for the kids, down next to Applegarth Farm, new party organisers My Little Princess have launched a Princess & Pirate School on Tuesday and Friday and Tri-Golf have teed up two Golf activity day camps on Monday and Wednesday.
Next Tuesday in the Square is the Grayshott Pancake Day races and if you fancy having a go, with or without some silly headgear or fancy dress, please register at noon outside the Village Kitchen Caterers. The races start at 12.30pm and are great fun to watch so please come on down and cheer them on.
Looking ahead there are two important consultation exhibitions coming up. The first is the Royal Surrey County Hospital Road Show on Wednesday 24th Feb in the Village Hall and the other the Grayshott Sports and Recreation Public Exhibition on Saturday 27th Feb at Grayshott Social Club to consult villagers on what they would like to see in the way of facilities for sport and recreation in the village and to display its suggested layouts and improvements for the Sports Field and Pavilion.
If you visit the village website you will see that there is far more info than can possibly be fitted comfortably into a weekly newsletter. If you are looking for a job or a house or trying to sell off some unwanted stuff it's all there, it's all free, and updated daily. There's a noticeboard - did you find 6 running jackets in Kingswood Firs?, a messageboard to vent your spleen - all 50 of them, everything you wanted to know about the Parish Council - and were afraid to ask - I could go on...but I think, I hope, you have got the message.
And finally - It can't have escaped your notice that this Sunday is Valentines Day and therefore a perfect opportunity to take the other half out for a meal in one of Grayshott's six fabulous restaurants. And this seems only reasonable, especially after ones spent the entire weekend watching the rugby, so, no excuses ladies!
Have a loverly weekend.
