After undergoing a major refurbishment the Fox & Pelican, as planned and despite the snow, reopens it's doors tomorrow at 11am and managers Kim & Mark are really looking forward to welcoming their customers back in to see the transformation.
The new pub restaurant will also host the next BIG meeting on Tuesday at 6pm when local traders and organisers get together under the guidance of Dick Smith. Budding entrepreneurs are also invited along to a business network breakfast meeting on Thursday at the Georgian Hotel in Haslemere being run by Vicky Martin.
The news has been dominated by the Haiti earthquake and if you watched Meridian news yesterday you may have caught a little snippet on Grayshott showing Graham Page and Suzie Baldwin of Golden Valley Poultry giving away eggs and raising funds for the DEC appeal. If you missed it you can read all about it here. If you have done something special to raise funds let me know and we can run the story.
Thanks to all the snow we now have a village EGG, that is the Emergency Group Grayshott. It's been busy preparing a rapid response to future snow fall, and although it's Sods law we won't now get any for years and years it's reassuring to know, if and when we do, who we gonna call. Snowbusters!
Grayshott Concerts have organised a music packed itinerary for the coming year with the first ever full performance of Handel's Messiah, Brahms 1st Symphony, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, Beethoven's 'Emperor' Piano Concerto, Prokofiev's 'Classical' Symphony and Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony 'Italian' to look forward to.
Rehearsals for this years "Rock'n'Horror panto show" (12th & 13th March) are already underway, the casting couch having already been put to good use by writer/director Pam Hatch. For my part I get to revisit heartbrake hotelier Sybil from 13 years ago, although she too has been refurbished and renamed Dolly. Unkindly other members of the cast thought my reading of the part was as Dolly the Sheep! but not a bit of it, and that is why you may occasionally catch me humming "9 to 5".
What a way to make a living.
