Dear subscriber
Tomorrow afternoon Grayshott Gardeners show off their produce in the Village Hall at their Summer Show which opens 2pm to 4pm - always a colourful and aromatic affair with added refreshments.
At St Luke's Church on Saturday is An Evening with Jonathan Veira. In this highly entertaining show, he sings ballads, jazz, rock 'n' roll and blues as well as some popular operatic arias, accompanying himself with great flair on both piano and guitar. His skill as a raconteur and mimic keeps the audience enthralled as he tells hilarious anecdotes and makes his own comic observations on life. Tickets in advance from Grayshott Books or perhaps on the door.
Also on Saturday evening at the Social Club there is a Young Band Showcase organised by Andrew Pennick where his band Saxon Black perform with three other local bands Maeia, Long Before You & Reserved For No-one. Free entry - all welcome - young and old!
Looking ahead to next week Movies in Grayshott are screening the moving comedy A Bunch of Amateurs on Wednesday at the Village Hall in which a sleazy Hollywood agent tricks one of his clients, faded action star Jefferson Steel ( Burt Reynolds ), into playing King Lear in an amateur charity production. Tickets in advance from Grayshott Books include a discount at Gurkha Durbar - and on the door.
On Saturday at the Social Club the world famous Jazz octet the Temperance Seven return for another memorable evening following their appearance at last years Sunday Funday. These guys really are the best, and Grayshott in general and the club in particular are fortunate to have local resident Mike Deighan in the band to help organise the gig and promote live Jazz. Tickets £12.50 are available in advance from the club bar and have on both previous occasions sold out.
Have a good weekend.
