Dear subscriber
What an exciting weekend we have in store.
On Friday 96.4 Eagle radio's Love Tour 2009 comes to Grayshott visiting local businesses Amelie, Golden Valley Poultry and The Fox & Pelican and The Social Club's Jazz & Beer Festival gets underway, with great foot tapping music and some tasty beers and ciders, concluding on Saturday night.
Eagle's DJ Mark Chivers broadcasts his mid-morning show from Amelie in Crossways Road from 9am - 12.noon, and owner Rachael Mulraney invites you to pop in and say hello to her and Chivs.
At noon Kim Robson continues the 'Love Tour' at Golden Valley Poultry at Purchase Farm in Whitmore Vale. Local Farmer Graham Page has also organised a Family Fun Event at the farm for the local community with any proceeds going to support Buy in Grayshott. 30 pupils from Grayshott Primary School will be given a tour of the farm to see the chicks, organically reared chickens, resident pig, shetland pony and lambs to learn about animal welfare. Graham invites villagers down to the farm from 5pm and has laid on a BBQ, bar with hogsback TEA, non-stop music, fun & games, and a raffle with prizes donated by local shops. Graham says "Please do drop in on Friday even if only an hour, I can promise you a fabulous time".
Later the show continues with Darren Scott's 'Drive Time' at the Fox & Pelican Pub which has a 'back to school' disco in the evening organised by new publicans Kim & Mark with DJ Keith Connors.
At 8pm on Friday the Jazz Music gets underway at the Social Club which opens its doors to members and non-members alike and invites villagers along to sample the delights of some great beers from Alton's Triple F brewery and Mr Whiteheads Ciders. The clubs resident Jazz band, Binky's Dixie Demons, will be performing with special guest sax-star Big John Lee back by popular request. This promises to be the highlight of the weekend with Big John teaming up with Denny Ilet, one of Britains greatest trumpet players. Don't miss a swinging night.
Closing the Jazz & Beer festival on Saturday night will be Bills all-star sextet featuring George.N.Paterson on trumpet. George has played with them all including the Clyde Valley Stompers Ken Mackintosh, Ray McVay etc as well as being musical director to Joe Brown, Englebert Humperdink and Solomon King. A talented arranger George spends most of his time playing world cruises on the QE2 with the Ray Terry Band Mick 'the sticks' Gibbings will be on percussion a swinging drummer and a good timekeeper. Mick plays most of his gigs these days with the legendary Otis.B.Driftwood Band. Completing the guests is the aptly named Bob Alco on Trombone. A great tailgate trombone player Bob is resident with the Barry Tyler Band.
Entry to the Jazz & Beer festival is free and the festival guest beers and ciders are all priced at £2.50 a pint so do make it along at some time over the festival. The club will also be screening the Lions 2nd test against the Springboks at 2pm. Hope to see you there.

A few years back you may remember we had a stoolball competition on the rec which was great fun and a good family day out. The good news is we are doing it again on Sunday 12th July and the Party in Grayshott peeps are currently recruiting teams to take part. If you are interested check out the invitation and for everyone it's time to dust off your your picnic baskets for what should be another memorable day in sunny old Grayshott.
