Dear subscriber
Activities in The Square last weekend yet again demonstrated just how valuable this community space is to the village. As Mike Pennick got on his bike in preparation for and to promote his Barnardo's Borneo Challenge three teams of Morris Dancers entertained a bemused audience of shoppers who got much more than they had bargained for.
The Square Group are very busy behind the scenes managing the refurbishment project which will hopefully reach fruition in autumn 09 and we are already reaping the benefits with innovative use of the square since it came into the hands of the Parish Council. You can do your bit by supporting the various fundraising events, the next one being a French themed lunch, which are proving very popular. If you are doing the boundary walk on Sept 28th you could also consider making the square the benificiary of your sponsorship - more details next week.
With the economy struggling as it is Grayshott businesses are fortunate to have BiG continuing to fight their corner. Such is the Buy in Grayshott campaigns wider reputation that Dick Smith & Phil Bates were recently invited by Petworth to share our secrets of success. One of them is the regular meetings which bring local business men and women and those running organisations together to discuss issues of concern. A number of initiatives have resulted from this forum such as the Christmas lighting and concerts which help to promote Grayshott to everyones mutual benefit. The next meeting is next Tuesday 6pm in the Fox & Pelican restaurant please do come along.
Ladies are invited by the Grayshott Firefighters to take up their Driving Challenge taking place on Sunday October 12th. Not only enormous fun this is a major fundraiser for the fire service national benevolent fund and Grayshott Fireservice has been awarded in the past for raising £17,000 in one year largely from supporting the driving challenge.
Grayshott Village Hall says a fond farewell to Jo & John Edser tonight as they throw a leaving party to celebrate their 10+ years of service as caretakers. But it's aurevoir and not goodbye as they are only moving just down the road - phew!
Avid readers of grayshott.com will have noticed yesterdays addition of a Grayshott Concerts pane on the homepage giving links to their new bespoke webpages, including latest news, upcoming events and gallery. This enhancement is in recognition of the importance the concerts now play in Grayshott and just as PiG, BiG and the Parish Council similarly benefit from special treatment, my aim is to extend this upgrade to the other organisations that fill our news and event pages. All in all it makes for an impressive showcase that continues to make running the Grayshott village website a joy.
Have a good weekend!
