Dear subscriber

Long time no hear. Sorry for the hiatus in my weekly what's on emails whilst I was away enjoying myself with family and friends in sunny Dalyan, Turkey to celebrate some 50th birthdays. Although you may have missed the updates the website is always there, albeit frozen in time when I'm not around, and isn't it about time technology stepped in to allow business as usual without my omnipresence? and so that I do not return to a backlog of heathrow terminal proportions. If you are an IT genius and fancy helping me design a bespoke CMS for the website - grayshott.com and I need you - please call me 07855519644

So what's been happening whilst I was away? Plenty - judging by the number of new news items below. I'll leave you to peruse them at your leisure. And what's coming up this week?

The Social Club is the full throes of the Euro2008 championship with two games a day enthralling the hundreds of England fans turning up to watch Germany et al, all except England that is, battle it out. Tomorrow (Tuesday night) is the second appearance of Binkys Dixie Demons at the club with their entertaining Jazz quartet - It's not at all like watching paint drying, although you may detect a slight whiiff as the function room is newly decorated, and those who turned up last month, me included, had a great night out and I'm sure will be back for more. Poker players may want to put Saturday 21st June in their diaries as the club is hosting their second poker tournie in celebration of my half century - details TBA There are rumours going around that I will be buying the drinks on my actual birthday - if only you knew when that was.

On Friday Mike Pennick, who in a moment of madness decided to take on the Barnados Borneo Challenge, is hosting a fundraising Quiz Night at the Village Hall and although they are probably full up with contestants by now you could always try and squeeze yourself in - give Mike a ring Tel. 01428 607497 and offer him a starter for £10.

You still haven't booked your places at the Grayshott Summer Opera and Grayshott Summer Ball yet? What on earth are you waiting for? Summer is definitely here you know. Latest news on the much awaited Grayshott Sunday Funday on 29th June coming up in the next edition of what's on - I know it's hard but you'll just have to contain your excitement until then.

Have a good week.

16th may - What's On! - Poets aka 'early beers' fans will be in seventh heaven tonight as Beacon Hill's 6th Beer Festival gets underway at 6pm and continues tomorrow afternoon and evening. Why? well I admit to having been to the odd beerex or three and have to say I rate this one highly - not just for the quality and choice of beers and ciders but for ambience with good food and music. Well worth leaving the confines of Grayshott for - it all happens at Beacon Hill's village club aka Hindhead British Legion. more...
