Dear subscriber
Poets aka 'early beers' fans will be in seventh heaven tonight as Beacon Hill's 6th Beer Festival gets underway at 6pm and continues tomorrow afternoon and evening. Why? well I admit to having been to the odd beerex or three and have to say I rate this one highly - not just for the quality and choice of beers and ciders but for ambience with good food and music. Well worth leaving the confines of Grayshott for - it all happens at Beacon Hill's village club aka Hindhead British Legion - go into Beacon Hill shopping centre and you can't miss it. You don't need a ticket just pay £3 on the door for your souvenir glass.
More trembly knees tomorrow as Pompi are on their way to Wembley to win, we hope, the FA cup - If you are watching it on the box join with family and friends for some match atmosphere on the big screen - as always Grayshott Social Club will oblige and if you are still sampling beers in Beacon Hill they too have made ample provision.
Tomorrow is also the "Merry Month of May" Flower Club Show at the Village Hall Starting at 11:45am with morning coffee there are Ploughmans lunches and Afternoon Teas will be served until 4:30pm. As well as the competitive floral show there is an exhibition of photos by Ludshott Photographic Club.
Weren't we lucky with the weather last Sunday - those who were at the Paella in the Plaza enjoyed another fabulous lunch from the Village Kitchen Caterers - thanks to everyone who turned out to help set up and clear away - there is a nice collection of photos of the day on the gallery including a few of Pam and I receiving a lovely Grayshott Pottery bowl from our friends. Did I mention we are both 50 this summer?
Looking ahead - have you got your tickets for the Grayshott Summer Opera and Grayshott Summer Ball yet? as they are selling fast. It's only 6 weeks to the Grayshott Sunday Funday and if your organisation or business would like to hold a stall or donate a raffle prize Gillian Chard would like to hear from you - call her on 01428 605005. Topping the bill is the legendary Jazz octet ' The Temperance 7' and PiG would like to hear from anyone with lots of money and a warm heart who would like to help sponsor them as they don't come cheap. The Fox & Pelican have already put their hand in their pocket and for the second year running Ben will be sponsoring the fabulous 'Batala Portsmouth' Samba Reggae Band who will again lead the procession. This years procession theme is 'Your Favourite Book' lots to read into that - more details to follow.
The Fox & Pelican seem to be dominating the events diary below so I refer you to that for full details of their upcoming music starting with Tim & Thom who are on tomorrow night - hopefully you received my email with their latest offer of two main courses and a bottle of wine for £25. The idea is for 2 to share just in case you were wondering.
Have a winning weekend.
