Dear subscriber
Wow! Things are really hotting up this week. Looks like the sun will have it's sombrero on for the Paella in the Plaza this Sunday and tickets for the Grayshott Summer Opera and Grayshott Summer Ball are selling like hot cakes.
No excuse for not getting in the garden this weekend then - and if you need some inspiration on Saturday morning the Grayshott Gardeners are holding their Plant Sale in the Square.
In the evening you can star gaze at the Grayshott Movies showing of Venus in the Village Hall or get on down to the Fox & Pelican with Charlie Beckerson playing his eclectic mix.
The final weekend of premiership football screens at the Social Club and the fantasy ends for at least one manager I know. Next Tuesday 13th May the club is hosting an evening of Jazz - with Bink's Dixie Demon's - organised by Mike 'temperance one' Deighan this is free entry and all are welcome to come along.
If you haven't secured your tickets for Madama Butterfly on Sat 12th July you'd better flutter down to Blaze House Art pronto as Grayshott Concerts is witnessing the Fastest ever sale of opera tickets
Over 110 tickets of the 150 available for the Grayshott Summer Ball being held on Sat 5th July have also gone - if you would like to go (and it comes highly recommended) please phone Barrie Archer to let her know asap 01428 604798 (work) or 01428 606866 (home) or drop her an email barri_@hotmail.co.uk to avoid disappointment.
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited with Pam to the Grayshott celebrity birthday party of the year - for septuagenarian (I know it doesn't seem possible) Peter Harrison. It was a lovely evening organised by Vivien in the new restaurant at Applegarth where Will Benson and his wife and staff looked after us most royally whilst we enjoyed classic music from Martin Smith, who played so brilliantly at the recent concerts, with his string quartet.
It must be my age but so many friends are celebrating their biggies this year - happy birthday to Dave Phillips who reaches his 50th today - there will be an "early beers" celebration tonight I'm sure.
If you are free around 9am this Sunday morning to help with setting up the two new PiG tents, tables and chairs in the Square for the Paella in the Plaza - and/or perhaps more importantly to help take it all down in the afternoon your assistance will be much appreciated.
Have a sunny weekend all.
