Dear subscriber
May bank holiday is almost here, the weathers looking goodish, and there is a triple forecast of live music this weekend with the World Famous Red Sox tonight at the Village Hall, then tomorrow Vic Cracknell plays at the Fox & Pelican and on Sunday local bands Sunsoma & Grapevine perform a free gig at the Social Club Nothing on Monday though so you'll just have to listen to the ringing in your ears.
Last week I promised you some photos of the St George's Day Tea Party in the Square and courtesy of David 'Bailey' Barrett we have 80 which gives a good flavour of the day - before you click off to see them I would start by reading the news item - would you like to see St George's Day celebration as an annual Grayshott event?
Also new in the grayshott gallery is a photo montage of Jack & the Beanstalk - a nice warm up for those wonderful Panto Peeps who are watching the DVD of their performance tomorrow tonight - at a party - I guess they're going to need a drink.
It's the penultimate weekend of premiership football and fantasy league managers are busy honing their sides in a last desperate attempt to win - well I know I am - screening on Saturday at the Social Club is Manchester Utd v West Ham Utd at 12:45pm and at 5.15pm it's Bolton Wanderers v Sunderland - and on Sunday Arsenal v Everton at 1.30pm and Liverpool v Manchester City at 4pm - also at 4pm on Monday is Newcastle Utd v Chelsea.
Looking forward to next weekend on Saturday is the Grayshott Gardeners Plant Sale in the Square - a good chance to stock up on your bedding plants. In the evening it's the next showing from Grayshott Movies Venus - the amusing story of a pair of ageing actors played (without too much effort or makeup) by Peter O'Toole and Leslie Phillips - tickets on sale at Grayshott Books. Also that night is Charlie Beckerson playing in the F&P. On Sunday it's all fingers crossed for spanish sunshine in the Square - the sangria will be flowing at the Paella in the Plaza - don't forget your castanets.
Are you feeling a bit groggy today? Perhaps you stayed up way too late watching the extraordinary coverage of the local elections - what is Jeremy Vine (growing) on? Being a political agnostic - or should that be atheist? - I'm not sure why I found it so satisfying to see New Labour get such a good old fashioned pasting, but as they seem to have offended just about everybody in the last ten years, I suspect I'm not alone. With the economy in shambles they really seem to have lost it to the Conservatives and I shouldn't be at all surprised to see Congested Red Ken choked off in London later as Blue Boy Boris comes out to play. Whatever happened to Dear Prudence? Gordon Bennett!
Have a great bank holiday weekend.
