Dear subscriber

Hopefully by now you will have received your copy of the shiny new Grayshott leaflet commissioned by Buy in Grayshott and produced by City Explorer with grant funding from East Hampshire District Council. The leaflet was prepared with additional help from the Village Archive Group and Grayshott Society and aims at promoting Grayshott to visitors. Key features of the new leaflet are detailed hand drawn maps of the village and village centre which I plan to make interactive on this website soon.

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris, I wonder where the birdies is? Perhaps they are busy preparing for the Grayshott Gardeners Spring Show which buds forth in Grayshott Village Hall tomorrow with public viewing and afternoon tea between 2pm and 4pm.

Grayshott Concerts are tuning up for their Spring Concert Look - it's Bruch tomorrow night. Vivien and Peter Harrison are justifiably proud of their achievements in bringing top quality classical music and musicians to Grayshott and it's pleasing to see all their efforts rewarded recently with grants towards the summer open air opera Madame Butterfly and new staging for St Luke's Church Support continues to come from local sponsors Applegarth and Huntington House Nursing Home, who both coincidentally also sponsor this website, and from the hundreds of music lovers who regularly pack the church to the brim on concert nights..

Also on Saturday night, at the Fox & Pelican it's Liam & Dan two experienced guitarist/singers who perform a fun, eclectic selection of songs from across the decades and on Sunday there's Jazz night with Sounds so Familiar both start at 8.30pm and are free entry.

At Grayshott Social Club there is a Quiz Night on Saturday with fish'n'chip supper from the Tasty Plaice and as usual an action packed weekend of premiership football with Pompi still exhuberant from their FA cup semi final win up against a revitalised Newcastle at 5.15pm on Saturday and Liverpool v Blackburn at 1.30pm and yet another clash between Manchester United and Arsenal at 4pm - all in glorious HD.

The dust is still settling after the Grayshott Parish Assembly and as usual protecting our village environment from the invasion of the car was a hot topic. Not least as it now transpires, and are we surprised?, that the ring-fenced funding for traffic calming Grayshott was promised, supposedly as an integral part of the tunnel contract, seems for the time being to be disappearing rapidly down a long black hole or two. Well we'll see - but whatever may be, or not be, coming our way, now is the time to put on our thinking caps and develop and hopefully implement a "shared streets" strategy before 2011 delivers us a fait accompli. Needless to say these issues pre-occupy the thoughts of our local councillors parish, district and county who we are lucky to have on our side as they ably demonstrated at the assembly, and also reassuringly The Grayshott Society are on the case.

Have a great weekend.
