Fox & Pelican
Also on Saturday night is live music from Charlie Beckerson who returns to the Fox & Pelican for a set of eclectic cover songs
Vic Cracknell tells me they had a great Acoustic night last Sunday at the Fox & Pelican he says "it was nice to see it busy and lots of compliments on the high quality of the performers who included singer/pianist Ashley Heyes, guitar maestro Mike Dawes, Matt Howes, Charlie Beckerson and others. This Sunday 17th is another Acoustic Night with a completely different line-up which will include a feature set from Jonathan Thompson playing songs from his new folk tinged album (recorded at Opus Studios in Grayshott). Also there will be performances from Mike Knee, Tim Green, Keith Layton, Mark Buck and finishing off with Steve Grattan playing his acoustic version of one side of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album which was very popular at Alton the other night." Vic will be starting the music at 8-15pm on Sunday night.
Social Club
FA Cup 5th round action this weekend at the Social Club with 4 live matches including Manchester United v Arsenal at 5.15pm on Saturday and Pompi v Preston at 4pm on Sunday.
No 6 nations though as England prepares for their 8pm tangle with France on Saturday week. After the match is the SKA WARS gig - playing ska covers from the selector, madness, bad manners, desmond dekker, the beat etc - some tickets still on sale at the bar.
Grayshott Stagers
Next weekend sees the return of the ever popular One Act Play / Supper Evening from the Grayshott Stagers. This time the plays are "Properly Processed" by Lynn Brittney; Directed by Brezetta Thonger, "The Eagle Eye" by Peter Rolls; Director: Jane Sargeant and "Plaster" by Richard Harris. All very funny! Performances are on 22nd & 23rd February 2008 and tickets, which include a Supper (vegetarian option only on request at time of placing ticket order), are available from Mrs M Walker (01428 605046). This event always proves extremely popular and invariably is sold out so early booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
