Dear subscriber
Flippin marvellous
It was good to see so many turn out for the The Great Grayshott Pancake Race revival organised by the Grayshott Square Group in the Square on Shrove Tuesday. If you missed the spectacle all is on view in the grayshott gallery.

Congratulations to Blaze House Art who picked up the award for the Best Dressed Shop in Grayshott 2007 at the very enjoyable awards dinner organised by BIG at the Ghurkha Durbar Nepalese Restaurant last Sunday.

Gloria
Hopefully you too are looking forward to "Gloria" at St Luke's Church on Saturday week. Vivien Harrison of Grayshott Concerts tells me the soprano for 16th Feb, Judith Howarth, is at present appearing as Madam Butterfly with the ENO at the London Colliseum to amazing reviews. More info in the Times article and here are a few quotes from the Daily Telegraph.
"It is the soprano singing Butterfly who makes or breaks any performance of this opera, and Judith Howarth rises above all to give a striking interpretation of this great role. She isn't the most touchingly vulnerable of Cio-Cio-Sans: Instead she emphasises the girl's resourcefulness, stubborness and acid wit. This is no naive victim, but a brave woman scorned and determined to be proved right."
"Her singing is a match for this, and by the love duet she was singing with a lovely bright tone, amplenness and security. All the big moments in the second half were seized and shaped confindently, and she had plenty of voice left for the death scene."
"Framed by Minghella's glamourous aritifice, she stood out as an alarmingly - and thrillingly - real figure."
Vivien says "I always knew she was good, but it's great to have this confirmed so strikingly by such critics as those of the Times and Telegraph. We are in for one big treat."
There are only ten tickets left for "Gloria" and a few pre-concert supper tickets for the Ghurkha Durbar Nepalese Restaurant and they are available at the concerts box office in Blaze House Art
Lets go clubbin
OK I've put it off long enough. Having had a joke at the Jock's expense in last weeks What's On! I suppose it was inevitable that England would go and get it's fingers Burns'ed. And ribbing the Taffs about Ospreylia was bound to backfire at fortress Twickenham as England got a taste of Faylia. So it was definitely a case of a pint and a portion of humble pie for me.
Lets put that behind us and look forward to three more six nations rugby matches this weekend all on show at the Social Club on Saturday it's Wales v Scotland at 2pm & France v Ireland at 4pm and on Sunday Italy v England at 2.30pm
Then there is a two week rest before England meet 'Les Bleus' on Sat 23rd Feb at 8pm and this is followed by a return visit from SKA WARS to the Social Club playing ska covers from the selector, madness, bad manners, desmond dekker, the beat etc - I mention this now because a limited number of tickets are already on sale for this gig, and I advise you to get yours by this weekend should you fancy it. Just drop in to the club bar in a galaxy near you....
