Dear subscriber
RU lovin' Christmas yet?
One of our lasting and most enjoyable Christmas traditions is the Grayshott Primary School Christmas Fair which falls this year on Saturday 1st December. Just 50p entry there is a fantastic raffle with great prizes, many stalls and gifts for Christmas, competitions, games, mulled wine and mince pies, and loads more. And of course it wouldn't be complete without a visit to Santa and his Christmas fairy for the kids and, so you don't feel left out, there is even a secret santa stall for mum and dad. So take yourself down to the school between 2pm and 4pm tomorrow for a real taste of the Christmas spirit.
Saturday night at the movies
Who cares what picture you see - when you're hugging with your baby in last row in the balcony. No balcony at Grayshott Village Hall I'm afraid but you can still take your hot date to the Saturday night Movies in Grayshott to see hit comedy "Hot Fuzz" with the added attraction of a licensed bar to warm you up & and interval refreshments to cool you down. The doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are now on sale at Grayshott Books and, assuming it's not a sell out, on the door for just £5.00 or £4.00 for the under 16's (certificate 15 though). If you haven't tried out the Grayshott Saturday night at the movies experience - give it a go - it beats a visit to the Ohdearone hands down but watch out for those chocolate stains on your pants.
If music be the food of love
Play on, give me excess of it; that surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die....
And a fine feast is in store as Mark Buck & Rupert Oxlade are playing at the Fox & Pelican on Sunday night. These two talented performers will be doing separate sets including originals and cover songs then perform together. Mark performs self-penned songs in a style that drifts somewhere between Van Morrison, John Martyn and Ray La Montagne with a sprinkling of J.J. Cale. Grammy award winning bluesman John Hammond has described Mark's acoustic guitar work as sensational, and he has played with KT Tunstall, Bo Diddley, Jose Feliciano and many others. Rupert Oxlade who performed at this year Jamboree is a singer songwriter from Haslemere. He has released his debut album "Colours". His relaxed acoustic style and melodic ideas often allude to artists such as Jack Johnson and Paul Simon and yet he definitely has his own voice with this superb collection of thought provoking songs. Wooah.
And if you have room for more then our Grayshott Music Maestro Vic Cracknell has put together another Singer Songwriter Night on Tuesday night at the Fox with lots of local talent to woo you further.
It's a game of two halves
Meanwhile back at the bat cave Grayshott Social Club members are lovin' football - Saturday 12.45pm Chelsea v West Ham Sunday 4pm Tottenham v Birmingham and Monday 8pm Manchester Utd v Fulham - premiership games being shown live.
This Sat at 2.45pm we have the bonus of some Rugby Union with the Springboks playing against the world famous Baa-Baas for the first time in seven years - but I'll be itching all the way to Twickenham with my old mate big F to belatedly celebrate his birthday - no need to get jealous now.
Until next weeks What's On!
