Dear subscriber
Today our old podgy friend makes his annual appearance for BBC Children in Need - that's Pudsey not Terry Wogan - and although surprisingly there are no specific events planned in Grayshott to support this, that I know of, there is a Curry-athon @ The Cumin tandoori in Beacon Hill.
Child abuse is a terrible thing and I was pleased to include a news item this week about a new exciting DVD aimed at preventing this. Matters 2 Me is fronted by actress Julie Walters, and has been written and produced by Mark Williams-Thomas, who is a local and leading Child Protection Expert - you may have heard him speaking in the media on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. The DVD uses cartooning to get over its important messages and many of the voices are played by local adults and children from the Grayshott.
If you have been to the supermarkets recently you can't help notice that the build up to Christmas is well underway. Not wishing to be left behind Grayshott puts on its festive clothes this weekend with the tree lights being switched on at 4pm on Sunday by local MP James Arbuthnot. This will be preceded by childrens carols on the Green at 3.45 and as the lights go on BiG Santa will open the Christmas Market at the Fox & Pelican which is followed later by live music from Rhythm Thieves
The market, now a traditional part of Christmas in Grayshott, with its many tents and tables takes a fair bit of effort putting up and taking down so any little helpers on Sunday would be most welcome - meeting at the pub 11am and 6pm.
If you are finding it difficult to get into the festive mood in November perhaps a visit to the Christmas Choral Concert at St Luke's the previous day is in order and in true festive spirit you will also be jointly helping to support Arthritis Research.
On Tuesday is the next BIG Meeting starting 6pm at the Pub, with representatives from all local businesses and organisations welcome, and this is followed by a spanish themed night with tapas and sangria to the sounds of acclaimed flamenco/world acoustic guitarist Byron Johnston who wowed the Jamboree audience earlier this summer.
Where has the year gone?
Until next weeks What's On! Ho ho ho
