newsletter friday 24th august 2007 Dear subscriber Hoorah! At last summer has arrived, or for the less cynical perhaps it has returned, and just in the nick of time for the August bank holiday weekend - traditionally the start of autumn. In recognition of this long awaited event those clever people at the Social Club who predicted this second coming, despite all the evidence to the contrary, are holding their Summer Ball on Saturday and there are still some tickets left if you fancy an evening of music and dance to band "251" in a convivial atmosphere. Call 01428 604041 for details and to reserve tickets. I was trying to remember when the sun last shone on Grayshott and it took me all the way back to the wonderful evening of the open air opera "The Barber of Seville" organised by Grayshott Concerts, who have clearly made all the right connections. Vivien & Peter are busy planning a veritable musical feast for our consumption and their next concert in St Luke's Church at 7.30pm on Saturday 3rd November 2007 will be Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace" with a pre-concert supper at the Fox & Pelican and you can reserve your tickets by visiting the concerts website More information about this and future concert can be found in their latest online newsletter This concert is the night before the Pyrotechnics in Grayshott but more about that in due course. A new chamber choir is being formed in Grayshott called "Excelsis" and they are looking for people with a musical background and excellent singing voices - so if you fit the bill give Rob Lewis, a call on 07973 852189 Another event that has been long awaited was the first England Germany match at the new Wembley Stadium which took place on Wednesday. The game certainly didn't disappoint except for the score and our prospects for Euro 2008 seem brighter with new talents such as Micah Richards coming forwards. There are another 4 premiership games this weekend (see below) and all of these can be seen in glorious high definition at the Social Club If you would like to post any items on the website, news, events, etc please simply send the details in a reply to this email. Until next weeks What's On! round or square Peter Hatch This webpage is now sent out by email to 500 website subscribers to grayshott.com e-lerts - if Thisou are viewing this online and you would like to subscribe to grayshott.com e-lerts please click here |
