Dear grayshott.com subscriber

You may have noticed the website is undergoing a gradual transformation. This will take quite a while to complete but rest assured grayshott.com will remain live throughout.

I don't want to bore you with techie stuff... what do you mean too late... but some of you may be interested in what is happening at the moment - if not please skip the next para.

The left hand menu is being replaced with a java script horizontal multilevel dropdown menu which means the end to using frames which are now frowned upon - see http://www3.hants.gov.uk/webstandards/web-frames.htm . The website page width is effectively reduced so those still using the archaic 800x600 screen resolution, and there are still plenty, only need to scroll vertically.

You can wake up now.

Tomorrow at 10.30am is the War Memorial Rededication Ceremony and everyone is invited. The memorial was cleaned a short while back and you can read all about it in Clean Up for Grayshott's Memorial

England start their rugby world cup campaign tomorrow at 4pm with a warm up match against Wales and there are a number of football matches over the weekend to warm us up for the start of the premiership in a weeks time - most notably Chelsea play Man Utd 3pm on Sunday in the Community Shield.

Watching a good game with a crowd of like minded individuals can enhance the experience, what with all the match banter and so on, and you are always welcome along to join the throng at the village pub or social club although if it's only on SKY then you'll have to make it the club as the Fox no longer has SKY for good reason - commercial SKY subscriptions are exhorbitant - they cost the club five and a half thousand pounds a year and because they're linked to the rateable value the pub used to pay over triple that.

Our Grayshott music maestro Vic Cracknell has asked me to plug his buskers nights. The next one is this Sunday at 8pm in the Crown & Cushion in Weyhill. Also there is a mini music festival in the Haslemere Museum Garden on Sat 11th - more details to follow.

Tickets are now on sale for two musical events coming up on Sat 25th August. If you like the big band sound of jazz and swing then the Summer Ball @ The club is for you - and for the rockers its a return visit for the world famous Red Sox @ Village Hall

If you would like to post any items on the website, news, events, etc please simply send the details in a reply to this email.

Until next weeks What's On! Red or White
