Dear grayshott.com subscriber

This is normally a quiet time of year for Grayshott events as families make their escape from the english weather and head for the med. This year it seems you can choose between drowning at home or burning abroad - if this is even partly down to global warming we can't say we haven't been warned. Thank goodness Grayshott is above it all.

Have you finished the latest Harry Potter yet? What do you mean you are waiting for the kids to finish. You really should have bought your own copy you know, as did all the fans queueing up at midnight last Friday at Grayshott Books. Anyway I can save you the bother of reading it by telling you that.... no it's more than my lifes worth. There was a good fancy dress turn out at the Movies in Grayshott - I really didn't recognise Vivien and her husband Peter "Dumbledore" Harrison of Grayshott Concerts - I thought it was Gandalf. Take a look for yourself in the news item Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

There is more about Potter in this weeks grayshott.com news. No a different potter this time. You can read all about it in Grayshott Pottery Stands Out at Compton's Watts Gallery

Before I forget to mention it - Movies in Grayshott have made some changes to the dates in their upcoming programme - I'm pleased to see that "Hot Fuzz" is coming home to Grayshott on Sat 1st Dec. I'm told this hilarious film could have been based on Grayshott itself - what do you mean could. The next film showing is after the summer break on Friday 28th September with Mrs Henderson Presents and tickets as always will be available from the bookshop.

Congratulations to Grayshott Cricket Club under 9's who unbeaten, picked up the Winners Trophy at the Haslemere six a side tournie a fortnight ago. All the adult cricket club fixtures are now posted on the website and they would love to have your support.

I'd like to pay tribute here to David Barrett, most of you will know him, who after 15 years as Chairman of the Grayshott Village Hall Management Committee has retired - that is a long time!. I dare say this will, as retirement often does, mean he will become even busier with other things including the work on the village archive. I'd like to add my thanks to David for his outstanding contribution in helping to maintain this essential community facility as Grayshott Village Hall bids farewell to long-standing Chairman

If you would like to post any items on the website, news, events, etc please simply send the details in a reply to this email and I'll have them up in a jiffy.

Until next weeks What's On! Wet or Dry
