Grayshott What's On!
October 2006
Dear website subscriber
Plenty going on this month.....
This Saturday the 7th many of us are looking forward to enjoying the latest Concert in Grayshott organised by Vivien & Peter Harrison of Grayshott Concerts. Sponsored by Applegarth Farm Shop, is a performance of Mozart's Requiem by candlelight, by the Occam Singers and the New London Sinfonia conducted by David Gibson at St Luke's Church. Many concert goers will also be enjoying a pre-concert supper at the Gurkha Durbar or Kapadokya restaurants. Tickets for the concert have been sold out since July but please check at Grayshott Books for any last minute returns.
Plans are already afoot for an open air performance of Rossini's Opera 'The Barber of Seville' sung in English, live, in full next year on Saturday 7th July 2007 and you can read the latest news Cash boost for Grayshott Concerts
Grayshott Social Club held a successful open day last month and you can see some photos and read a Report of the Day on the website. This month at the club there is a busy calendar of musical events starting with Vic's Buskers Night on Tuesday 10th followed by live Rock'n'Roll dance music from the Whirlwinds on Saturday 14th and a Youth Bandfest featuring five local bands on Tuesday 24th.
On Saturday 21st the club is holding a Music Quiz and at end of the month on Sat 28th a Race Night . If you didn't manage to get along to the club on the open day you are always welcome to drop for a drink and a chat at Grayshott Social Club which is in Hill Road.
On Saturday 14th October Grayshott Women's Institute and Grayshott Gardeners join forces to stage the Autumn Fair at Grayshott Village Hall and the following Wednesday 18th Grayshott Little Sunflowers Pre-school are holding a Coffee Morning / Shopping Extravaganzaa at the village hall.
This month a brave group from the 1st Grayshott Scout Group are having their hair shaved off to raise money for cancer research and in support of Beaver Scout Assistant Leader, Sally Smith, who has breast cancer. So far scout leaders Edmund Whitaker, Karen McGowan, Jo Edser, Lindsay McIntyre, and Claire Hitchcock have joined the group. Please have a look at the webpage Grayshott Scout Group Go Bald! where you will find a story and photo and most importantly a link to their justgiving website for online donations. The mass shaving will take place in The Square on Saturday 28th October at 11:15am and the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be there from 9.30am to help raise funds and will be holding a cake stall.
Looking a little ahead into November the fantastic Pyrotechnics In Grayshott is on Sunday 5th and this year will be followed by a Post Pyro Party with Vic & Friends at the social club. So after the fireworks have finished get yourself down to the club in Hill Road for an evening of musical entertainment from local musician Vic Cracknell who is performing with a selection of his musical friends - entrance is free and everyone is welcome.
You will find the complete list of upcoming events by visiting www.grayshott.com and clicking the EVENTS section on the main menu.
