latest what's on! newsletter
18th jul - What's On! newsletter - Opera buffs were treated to a masterful performance by Nancy Yuen and co as Madama Butterfly beat the rain in Grayshott last Saturday - but only just. This latest gem from Grayshott Concerts followed a splendid buffet provided by Ben and his staff from the Fox & Pelican in the grounds of Grayshott Primary School and local photographer Steven Kentish was on hand to record the event for the grayshott gallery. more...

11th jul - What's On! newsletter - Fortunately it did turn out nice in the end for the Grayshott School Summer Fair and Grayshott Summer Ball last weekend. The Ball was held in an elegant marquee in the grounds of Amesbury School and by all accounts a Good time was had by all as the revellers danced the night away to 'May Contain Nuts' - how very appropriate. Local photographer Phil O'Connor was on hand to snap the glitterarty and you can now view and order your prints online more...
4th jul - What's On! newsletter - I hope you enjoyed the Sunday Funday. We were certainly lucky with the weather, and it seems judging by the friendly atmosphere that pervaded the village throughout, and without exception, the new Sunday format has ensured our summer celebration remains family orientated. I have taken some time putting together an illustrated account of the day which I hope, unlike a certain local newspaper, does it justice. more...
27th jun - What's On! newsletter - This week Grayshott once again entertained the 'village of the year' competition judges - is it possible we could win a fourth time? I wouldn't be so surprised as we look forward to yet another great week in Grayshott - it just seems to get better and better - here are some of the highlights on offer.. more...
20th jun - What's On! newsletter - I guess this weekend, which is unusually void of major village events, could be described as the calm before the storm as we all prepare for the Grayshott Sunday Funday on 29th June. This promises to be another fabulous village event with all the excitement of the carnival procession followed by an excellent programme of entertainment. Just in case your funday flyer never made it through your hairy high security letterbox you can view the full itinerary online.. more...
13th jun - What's On! newsletter - And now for something completely different. It is now only two weeks, two days to the Grayshott Sunday Funday which happens on Sunday (no surprises there) 29th June. Over this weekend you will hopefully receive your hand-delivered leaflet explaining the full itinerary but for now what you need to know is;. more...
9th jun - What's On! newsletter - Long time no hear. Sorry for the hiatus in my weekly what's on emails whilst I was away enjoying myself with family and friends in sunny Dalyan, Turkey to celebrate some 50th birthdays. Although you may have missed the updates the website is always there, albeit frozen in time when I'm not around, and isn't it about time technology stepped in to allow business as usual without my omnipresence? and so that I do not return to a backlog of heathrow terminal proportions. more...
16th may - What's On! newsletter - Poets aka 'early beers' fans will be in seventh heaven tonight as Beacon Hill's 6th Beer Festival gets underway at 6pm and continues tomorrow afternoon and evening. Why? well I admit to having been to the odd beerex or three and have to say I rate this one highly - not just for the quality and choice of beers and ciders but for ambience with good food and music. Well worth leaving the confines of Grayshott for - it all happens at Beacon Hill's village club aka Hindhead British Legion. more...
9th may - What's On! newsletter - Wow! Things are really hotting up this week. Looks like the sun will have it's sombrero on for the Paella in the Plaza this Sunday and tickets for the Grayshott Summer Opera and Grayshott Summer Ball are selling like hot cakes. No excuse for not getting in the garden this weekend then - and if you need some inspiration on Saturday morning the Grayshott Gardeners are holding their Plant Sale in the Square.. more...
2nd may - What's On! newsletter - May bank holiday is almost here, the weathers looking goodish, and there is a triple forecast of live music this weekend with the World Famous Red Sox tonight at the Village Hall, then tomorrow Vic Cracknell plays at the Fox & Pelican and on Sunday local bands Sunsoma & Grapevine perform a free gig at the Social Club Nothing on Monday though so you'll just have to listen to the ringing in your ears. more...
25th apr - What's On! newsletter - What a nice week we've had. There was an excellent turnout on St George's Day for the Tea Party in The Square - the weather was extremely kind and the cream teas just flew out of the new PiG Marquee - check the website gallery out over the weekend for some great photos of this happy day organised by the Square Group. more...
21st apr - What's On! newsletter - Did you miss last fridays what's on! newsletter? - sorry but I was away in sunny Beer down in Devon. With the backlog of website emails awaiting my return it was tempting to skip a week but that wouldn't do with such an eventful week ahead - so here it is, albeit a few days late. .more...
11th apr - What's On! newsletter - Hopefully by now you will have received your copy of the shiny new Grayshott leaflet commissioned by Buy in Grayshott and produced by City Explorer with grant funding from East Hampshire District Council. The leaflet was prepared with additional help from the Village Archive Group and Grayshott Society and aims at promoting Grayshott to visitors. Key features of the new leaflet are detailed hand drawn maps of the village and village centre which I plan to make interactive on this website soon.more...
4th apr - What's On! newsletter - After another successful Grayshott Panto it was a pleasure this week to present a cheque for £600 to Grayshott Primary School on behalf of Party in Grayshott from the proceeds. The donation will go towards new sound and lighting equipment for the school hall - encouraging yet another generation of budding entertainers to tread the boards and maintain this valuable village tradition. more...
28th mar - What's On! newsletter -You should by now have received your copy of the excellent Grayshott Parish Scene. The 'scene' contains a wealth of information on local matters and many contributions from local organisations and is also available online. There was unfortunately an error in the party in grayshott advert and following a few phone calls this week from 'concerned of Grayshott' I should confirm this years village jamboree is on Sunday afternoon 29th June and has been renamed the Sunday Funday. more...
21st mar - What's On! newsletter - With a weekend forecast of sleet, high winds and freezing temperatures it must be the Easter bank holiday. Yep, Easter has come so early this year, spring has not even so much as sprung, and getting into the garden, and staying there, will be a real challenge for even the most hardened of Grayshott gardeners. Alternatively we could take up the nations second favourite pastime and go shopping, or is it feet up in front of the goggle box? more...
14th mar - What's On! newsletter - Hands up all those who stayed up to watch the budget. I confess I am bit of a politics addict, so even though several backbenchers seemed to be drifting off to the sounds of 'move over darling' into their dreamworlds of second home expenses I remained alert. As it turned out it was a jolly good ooportunity for a kip. Rather like England's performance on the rugby field of late it was all a bit of a disappointment - but nevermind we have a far better pantomime to watch in Grayshott TONIGHT! more...
7th mar - What's On! newsletter - Having spent your week beavering away inside, whilst outside all is glorious spring sunshine, you will not be surprised to learn that typically this weekend, your big chance to get out and enjoy it all, is set to be wet and stormy. So what has Grayshott got in store to brighten up the forecast and put some sun back into our sad lives? more...
29th feb - What's On! newsletter - You will see a few more changes to the homepage of the website made to accommodate the growing number of posts. My aim is to ensure that links to all new information posted on grayshott.com can be found in one place. There is always the risk this creates an information overload but once familiar with the new layout I hope you find this helpful. Now to what's on this weekend. more...
22nd feb - What's On! newsletter - It seems the government, and now largely thanks to them - all of us, are stuck between a rock and a hard place, but what do we care? with all that is good going on in Grayshott there is no need to brood on our national woes. Those lucky enough to be at the latest Grayshott Concerts held last Saturday at St Luke's Church were treated to a Stunning performance by Grayshott's new choir Excelsis as they performed Vivaldi's "Gloria" with top soloists Judith Howarth and Yvonne Fontane. more...
