GRAYSHOTT PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S REPORT For The Year Ended 31st March 2009 - Before I became a Parish Councillor I thought that it would be a boring job with very little to do other than sit on a committee and perhaps ponder on how to spend the precept. The truth of the matter is that it is rather different - although I do get to spend our cash and sign lots of cheques! On the financial front you will have seen that we have been conscious of pressures on incomes and have produced a budget for 2009/10 of £59,170 by comparison with that for 2008/09 of £59,000. We feel that this is a realistic figure which takes into account the reduction in the number of Grayshott Scenes to be printed in the future and that all the tree work recommended by our arboriculturist has already been done. more...

Becky Hardy 4th dec 08 - Following Monday's Policy and Resources meeting, Grayshott Parish Council is pleased to confirm that Becky Hardy has been appointed as Assistant Clerk w.e.f. 1st December 2008. Becky is new to the village so will take a little while to get to grips with the many responsibilities of the Parish Council but is very keen to get to know Grayshott and be part of the community.

She comes to us with 18 years experience in local authority work and is keen to take over the role recently vacated by Leah in Planning & Conservation and Recreation & Amenity matters. Becky will be attending her first Planning meeting this Thursday.

3rd dec 08 - Christmas in Grayshott - The festive season arrived in Grayshott last week heralded by the traditional switching on of the Christmas Lights which adorn the trees outlining the village greens. Becky Hardy17th nov 08 - Grayshott Parish Council is organising the erection of the Christmas Tree in The Square on Sunday 30th November, (although the lights will not be switched on until the following Saturday to co-incide with the Christmas Fair on 6th December). Some of our helpers in previous years are unable to assist this year and we are therefore widening the net, so to speak, for volunteers to help.

The tree is kindly donated by a landowner at the rear of Kingswood Firs and is cut down by Richard Hitchcock. It then needs to be dragged by a willing band of strong men to his lorry for the journey to the centre of the village, where it will be unloaded and hauled into position in The Square. If you feel you are able to help this year you will be more than welcome. This is a great tradition in Grayshott and the tree is enjoyed by the whole community, especially on Christmas Eve. We will meet at the entrance to Treadle Hill down the left hand fork at the end of Kingswood Firs at 10am on the 30th November. If you are able to help please let me know.

Becky Hardy12th nov 08 - Grayshott Parish Council is very sad to be losing Leah Coney as the Assistant Clerk, whose help and advice, especially on planning matters, has been very valuable over the last 18 months. She will be sadly missed but is taking up the post of Clerk to a bigger parish in the well-deserved furtherance of her career and Councillors wish her well. Her last morning in the Parish Office will be Thursday 27th November.
