green policy statement

The following objectives will be given full consideration in all Parish Council operations and decisions –

  • Wherever practical electronic communications, email and Internet, will be used to distribute documents.
  • The use of paper in the office will be reduced substantially by use of computer based information transfer. Recycled paper and double-sided printing will be used wherever possible.
  • The Parish Council will seek to influence the provision of low energy lighting for all office operations wherever possible.
  • All Parish Council lighting and power will be switched off when the office is not in use, wherever practicable.
  • The Parish Council will campaign to support low energy technologies, lighting and power, to be introduced in all public spaces throughout the village, where this does not compromise safety.
  • The Parish Council will seek ways to reduce light pollution throughout the village wherever possible.
  • In planning matters the Parish Council will encourage the retention of as many trees as possible and recommend replacement trees to be planted when trees have to be cut down for development purposes.
  • The Parish Council will reduce seek to minimise water usage in all public places and request that water conservation be considered in all planning applications.
