Grayshott Square Refurbishment Nearly Complete

After a few delays work is now progressing well on the refurbishment of The Grayshott Square which should be largely finished in a couple of weeks time.

Unfortunately, the stone that came from China in separate deliveries, was delayed for a total of three weeks due to shipping problems and this was out of the control of everyone concerned.

Despite a hiccup with the radius of the curve, progress over the last week has been good and the steps and staging area at the entrance are nearing completion.

The LED lights will then be installed and the bonded surface laid, along with the surfacing to the rear alleyways. This week the planter next to the steps will be constructed and this, along with the planter on the Co-op wall, will be rendered and the benches installed alongside.

Lastly the trees, seats and new wooden bins will be put in, giving the finishing touches to the area.

The pavement adjacent to the Co-op and Keats will be paved to match the Square to give the feeling that the Square is the centre of the village.

Grayshott Parish Council has been very aware of the disruption to village life with restricted parking and noise and are especially sympathetic and grateful to the people who live and work next to the area, who have borne the brunt of the inconvenience, for their patience.

It is to be hoped that the village will continue to show its support by shopping locally at those shops most affected and that when the project is finished it will attract many more people to the area, which will be a vibrant, attractive place for locals to come and shop.

The contractors have pledged that they will do their utmost to complete the project by 9th August.

Before the official opening to be organised by the Grayshott Square Group who co-ordinated the project, Grayshott Pottery will be mounting an art display of pottery tiles depicting the various societies and groups in the Grayshott which so enrich village life for residents.
