From Page to Stage in a Day for the Grayshott 24

The third Grayshott 24 will take place on Friday & Saturday, 25th & 26th June 2010 hosted by the Grayshott Stagers.

The idea sounds completely mad: to put on an entire musical show in just twenty-four hours. But that is what The Grayshott Stagers intend to do on 25th and 26th June, and they've done it before, in 1998 and 2004, and everyone involved had a really good, if challenging, time.

This is how it will work...

At 7.15pm on Friday 25th, all those who wish to take part, including Members of neighbouring societies, will gather in Grayshott Village Hall, ready to start work at 7.30. The director will already have been appointed by the committee, together with a musical director, and a pianist (or two).

At 7.30 the show will be announced, and scores, libs. etc. will be distributed to the assembled company.

The director and MD will have to make instant decisions about casting as there will be no time for auditions. The show will have a large chorus. and everybody who wishes to take part will be able to do so, no matter how many.

Rehearsals will commence immediately and will continue through the night and into the Saturday until about 6.30pm. The director and MD will organise sufficient rest periods for a little sleep! And a full breakfast will be available on the Saturday morning.

The show will be presented to a paying audience on Saturday 26th June at 7.30pm.

The only costumes 'allowed' will be what can be found in the wardrobe, and what people can provide themselves. Likewise the set - if it is in the scenery shed....

For those wishing to take part there will be a participation fee details of which can be found at www.grayshottstagers.co.uk and people can register their interest by sending an email to grayshott24@grayshottstagers.co.uk or phoning Tony Legat on 01428 606501.

Of course we shall also need an army of helpers to do all the other jobs that need to be done so even people do not want to tread the boards this time, they will still be needed.

For those not so brave and just wishing to come and watch the final result, tickets, at £7.00, can be purchased in advance online at www.grayshottstagers.co.uk, or from Grayshott Books, The Square Grayshott. Telephone 01428 604798 or, of course, at the door on the night of the performance: Saturday 26th June at 7.30pm.
