A village group has written to local residents and businesses to raise awareness of the forthcoming consultation exhibitions on proposed traffic calming in Grayshott being held by Hampshire & Surrey County Councils at Grayshott Village Hall on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th February.
The group, formed by local residents and representatives of various village organisations, has been considering traffic calming measures proposed for Crossways & Headley Road in relation to the opening of the new A3 tunnel in 2011.
The group concludes its study by recommending in their letter that proposed traffic calming measures be put on hold to allow measurement of actual traffic flows over a period of months after the tunnel has been completed before any final decisions are made.
In the meantime the funding already made available for the proposed traffic calming measures should be ring-fenced to ensure it remains available should any further traffic calming measures in Grayshott be required.
The group also suggests that should traffic calming be necessary in Crossways Road, there should be no traffic calming in Headley Road other than the new roundabout planned at the junction with the existing A3.
The group also urges, that should any traffic calming be required, the design and construction materials used should be as aesthetically pleasing as possible and in sympathy with the character of the village.
Villagers are invited to attend the exhibition and to make their views known.
