Golden Valley Poultry gave out some free eggs to Grayshott residents on Wednesday morning and collected donations for the Haiti earthquake appeal of £305.87.
Golden Valley primarily sell free range laying chickens to the public, but also sell eggs at the farm gate. Over 50 dozen free fresh eggs became available as customers could not get to their farm in Whitmore Vale due to the recent snow.
Partner Suzie Baldwin explained "We couldn't send eggs all the way to Haiti so we decided to give them away and ask for small donations to the charity. It's great to do a little thing like this and it proves that any small business can do something to help"
Also next month Golden Valley are starting Happy Hen Hire which is for those who don't have the space to keep their own hens for eggs. They can adopt one or two hens at the farm, name them and have the pleasure of visiting them when they pick up their fresh eggs every week at a competitive price to supermarket eggs. They get a personalised family egg basket which they bring back to fill up with their eggs, as Suzie explains "it's a slice of the good life without any time commitment"
In addition the company handed out leaflets for EGG, the Emergency Group Grayshott which has been newly founded as a self help organisation for Grayshott residents to operate in emergencies such with the recent snow problems
