Grayshott Gardeners Summer Show Saturday 10th July 2010

With the wonderful sunshine and unusual heat and lack of rain recently, it wasn't a great year for the roses at Grayshott Gardeners' show on Saturday but the sweet peas, fuchsias, lilies and a variety of other summer flowers and flowering shrubs more than made up for that. Grayshott Village Hall was a mass of colour and scent as exhibitors and visitors enjoyed the show and of course the traditional chat over afternoon tea and homemade cakes. There were also lots of plants to buy if anyone had a gap to fill in the garden.

This year it was Grayshotts turn to hold the Close Brooks Cup competition. 7 neighbouring villages entered a collection of fruit and vegetables accompanied by a pot plant and two cut flower vases. The winner was Milford with Churt and Thursley in 2nd and 3rd places.

The children from Grayshott Primary school also took part entering herbs grown in unusual and decorated containers. The Judge awarded a Certificate of Merit to the School for their efforts and chose 3 exhibits to receive prize stickers.

Detailed results of all the classes and the Cups awarded are shown below;
