It was smiles all around as the weather was just right for the recent Garden Party held by the Grayshott Decorative and Fine Arts Society to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. When the it was planned for the summer, everyone thought it ideal to have an outdoor event but as the time drew near there were the usual anxieties about the weather and the stage the garden would have reached after such a severe winter.
However, temperatures were perfect for meandering through such a beautiful and diverse garden, relaxing in the shade as members chatted and reminisced and enjoying the appetising canapés and liquid refreshment.
We were very pleased that the Hampshire Area Chairman of NADFAS Mrs Helen Stuart, our President Mrs Daphne O'Hanlon, a few founder members, several 'nearly founder' members and two past Chairmen of the society, were able to join us. One even joining us on his very special birthday!
The society was very grateful to members David and Jenny Lee for the opportunity to celebrate such an important milestone in their lovely garden.
The celebrations continue after the summer break, when a visit to Derbyshire is planned. The five day tour will give members the opportunity to explore 'the Historic Houses of Derbyshire' and continue the ethos of the Garden Party.
