Chairman Jacqui Prendiville unfortunately had to open this month on a sad note with the announcement of the death of two of our members and the hospitalisation of two other members. Thankfully the entertainment was musical so that helped tremendously to lift the spirits. Lydia Shaxson and Morys Davis, a wonderfully entertaining couple of friends with lovely singing voices, led the audience through melodies from all over the British Isles and some very well known songs from both of the world wars, a topic members always enjoy. Quite a few of the songs were audience participation and the members sang with great gusto. Well done Lydia and Morys for a great performance.Everyone then had an excellent cream tea plus sandwiches and cakes.
At our next meeting on Tuesday 3 August 2010 our entertainment will be provided by Sheila Kennedy talking about 'High Times at Heathrow'. New members and visitors are always welcome so if you are not off on your holidays why not join us for an afternoon of friendship and entertainment with a delicious tea to round off the meeting
