Creating Pots with Myra!

Myra McDonnellGrayshott Pottery is to be the setting of a clay coiling and hand building day led by ceramics designer Myra McDonnell.

This is the latest initiative by the Pottery's event team who plan to hold
two clay workshop events on Saturday 15th May. Both workshops on Saturday will last up to 2.5 hours and will be guided by Myra McDonnell who has a long history in the ceramics industry and started out in the 70's, by running a small scale industrial studio in Covent Garden. After much travelling and working in countries such as Finland and India, as well as in the UK for such companies as Carlton Ware and Anthony Paine, Myra has continued to teach and most recently was Chief Ceramic Technical Support/Lecturer at University of Creative Arts in Farnham. She is currently a freelance decorator and designer for Grayshott Pottery.

Myra said, " We plan to make the workshops a fun learning experience. We will be using some very old pottery techniques and these basically allow us to create pieces without technologies such as a potter's wheel and will allow us to put our own stamps on things. I am really looking forward to discovering all the hidden craftsmen out there!"

Glenn Myers, Production Director at Grayshott Pottery said, "This event forms one of a monthly series, created to involve our visitors in what we do here at the Pottery. We are delighted to welcome craftspeople, visitors and also 'people who just want to have a go' into the Pottery and are looking forward to some stunning creations."

'Create a Pot or Vase with Myra' costs £25 per person and advance booking is essential. Younger participants must be over the age of 12 years and the organisers ask that all under 16s are accompanied by an adult. One workshop will be held in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
