Grayshott Concerts - the perfect antidote to elections?

Martin Smith to plays Mendelssohn's Violin ConcertoFed up with elections? Why not relax at Grayshott's biggest-ever orchestral event on Saturday 15th May.

Where political bargainers 'lie 'n' grin', we give you Wagner's 'Lohengrin' (not Gotterdammerung - nor David Cameron!)

We bring you 'Mendelssohn', they give you 'Mandelson'

We bring you 'Brahms', they give you 'Browns'

We don't have a trace of 'Clegg-on-our-face' !

There a only a few tickets left for 'Martin Plays Mendelssohn' on Saturday week. But what an event it will be! How, you might ask, will we fit 44 musicians on the stage at St Luke's. Don't know yet - but we're determined to succeed.

We're opening with one of the most rousing overtures ever written - Wagner's Prelude to Act III of 'Lohengrin'. Our 'local hero', Martin Smith, (born in Headley and Leader of some of the world's top orchestras) will then perform Mendelssohn's romantic Violin Concerto with the New London Sinfonia under David Gibson. Barely two years ago he played the Bruch Violin Concerto in St Luke's to huge public acclaim.

In the second half, you can experience the rich tone and rolling melodies of Brahms' Symphony No.1 - so popular, when it was first performed, that they called it 'Beethoven's 10th!

So if elections give you the blues (or reds, yellows or greens) just recover with friends at 7.30pm on Saturday 15th May. Tickets and more information from 01428 606666.
