The Grayshott Support Network was successfully launched at the Fox and Pelican pub in Grayshott village on the 29 April. Over thirty people attended from local organisations including: Arthritis Care Grayshott, Grayshott Care, Grayshott Surgery, Wychwood Residential Home, St Luke's Church, the CAB and Hampshire Police. The aim was to share information about services for the elderly. The Fox and Pelican put on a special lunch as a thank-you to the volunteers who give so much of their time looking after others. Anna Lubelska-Robins, who chaired the event, expressed her gratitude for the support received from local benefactor Phil Bates and St. Luke's Church for the event.
The speakers were: Mark Surtees, the Hampshire County Council Adult Services Regional Manager for East Hampshire, Claire Whittaker from the Alzheimer's Society, Liz Hind from the Grayshott Daycentre, Matthew Parris from Greenbanks Homecare agency and Sheila Windus from the Grayshott Carers Support Group. EHDC Councillor Ferris Cowper got everyone excited about his 'Two Doors Down' scheme designed to help people who are alone or in need. The idea is that everyone should get to know who lives next door and two doors down from them, so that any person or family in difficulty will have up to four neighbours looking out for them!
