Amery Veterinary Group, with branches in Alton, Bordon and Grayshott, will be taking part in Pet Smile Month throughout September 2010. This is part of a national campaign where participating veterinary practices will give their time free of charge to examine pets' mouths and to educate owners about treatment and prevention.
There is also the opportunity for children to take part in the national Pet Smile Art Competition; the top prize is a Hot Air Balloon flight!
Owners are encouraged to bring in their pets for a free dental check and advice on dental products and oral health. Dental disease is a problem that can affect the whole body; bad breath is often the problem that pet owners notice, but as periodontal disease progresses bacteria spread from the mouth through the blood stream, affecting other organs such as the kidney and heart valves.
If you would like your pet to have a free dental check, please contact Amery Veterinary Group in Alton on 01420 82384, Bordon on 01420 472904 or Grayshott on 01428 604442, or visit them at www.amery-vets.co.uk.
