Grayshott Village Hall took delivery of over 700 pieces of modern ceramics on Saturday, thanks to the work and support of Grayshott Pottery and its Community Fund. The fund, that was set up over 2 years ago when the Pottery became an Employee Trust, is intended to sponsor 'local causes' and this week the Executive Committee for the Village Hall met with Chris Greenaway and Phil Bates, to take delivery. The ceramics, that have a retail value in excess of £6,000, comprise complete sets of dining-ware, bowls and serving platters and dishes as well as coffee and tea services.
Stephen Penny, Chairman of the Grayshott Village Hall Management Committee, said "When we completed the refit of the Village Hall kitchen last year we realised that our 'mix and match' crockery was not up to the standard of its new surroundings. The generosity of Grayshott Pottery in donating such a wonderful set of stylish catering ware has really put the icing on the cake and will benefit the users of the hall for many years to come. I have always believed that Grayshott is a special place and the willingness of Grayshott Pottery to support the Village Hall in such a practical way proves the point. I am sure that we are now unique, in that no other village hall will be able to boast that its catering ware was made to order and donated by a local business!"
Phil Bates, local resident and Trustee of Grayshott Pottery said. "Having been a supporter of the Village Hall for the last 40 years, I am extremely pleased that the Pottery has been able to donate this large quantity of fine stoneware to the Village Hall. The Hall is so important to village life and is a major focal point. In part though, this donation recognises a truly dedicated management team who run the Hall and that in itself deserves all the support it can get from local businesses such as the Pottery"
Chris Greenaway, Sales and Marketing Manager, for Grayshott Pottery, said, "We at the Pottery, are delighted to be in a position to support the Grayshott community that supports us so well. We hope that it will serve them far into the future and perhaps for the many generations to come too!"
