Hidden Gardens of Grayshott is a biennial event where private gardens in Grayshott open their gates to the public to raise money for gardening projects around the village.
The 2009 event will take place on the weekend of 13th/14th June with over 20 gardens participating. St Luke's Church is at the centre of events with the hand and tower bell ringers giving a demonstration of their talents, Grayshott Flower Club filling the church with floral displays and Ludshott Photographic Society staging a photographic exhibition.
First staged in 2005 and then again in 2007 the event has attracted over 750 people on each occasion who have toured the gardens and savoured afternoon teas on the way.
'Hidden Gardens' has raised £8,000 for the village so far and projects in the village that have benefited from the funds include:
~Grayshott Primary School - improvement of their wildlife garden
~Parish Council - improvement of community planted areas
~Grayshott Memorial Garden - maintenance and new planting of shrubs
~Grayshott Square Group - donation towards future planting of refurbished village square
~St Luke's and St Joseph's Churches
~Grayshott Village Hall - planting and maintenance
Entry to this year's event is £5.00 per person with children under 16 free. Programmes can either be purchased on the day from St Luke's Church Rooms or in advance from Grayshott Books from mid May. The programme is valid for both days so take your time and view some gardens one day and the rest the day after, sampling delicious refreshments and purchasing plants along the way. The gardens are open from 12.30pm - 6.00pm each day.
