Local music promoters, Grayshott Concerts, increasingly associated with sell-out classical music events 'on your doorstep', are now planning something completely different.
If you're wondering what the dickens it could be? The answer to the question is: "Yes!"
Concerts' artistic director, Vivien Harrison told Grayshott.com: "Our constitution encourages us to stage 'classical' performances - so what could be more classical than Charles Dickens' enduring seasonal ghost story, "A Christmas Carol" written in 1843 complete with Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit and a host of other Victorian characters."
The performance will be staged in St Luke's Church, Grayshott at 7.00pm on Wednesday 25th November by the "Strange Face Theatre Company" as part of the award-winning Farnham Maltings rural touring programme.
And this is no ordinary production. The half-dozen professional actors perform in half-face masks, each a work of art in itself, in order to portray the many wierd characters in the story. The performance is accompanied by live music and songs.
Grayshott Concerts promises a heady cocktail of eccentric masks, wierd puppets and an atmospheric set which weave the original 'banker-makes-good' story - a tale of our times.
Organiser, Peter Harrison, believes that the production will be a real winner. "We weren't too sure how many local people would find Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' attractive. But we needn't have worried. Bookings are pouring in and we're heading for another sell-out! It's a delightful show - and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit for all members of the family - except the very young."
Lynda Davies, owner of Blaze House Art, Grayshott Concerts' ticket distributor, explained: "Tickets can be ordered now, by telephone on 01428 606666, and then collected from our shop in Crossways Road from 1st November.
Tickets at £15, £10 & £5 (including special FREE tickets for local children aged 7+) with more information from Grayshott Concerts 01428 606666.
Tickets for Grayshott Concerts next production, "It's Christmas!" at 6.30pm on Sunday 7th December 2009, can be ordered at the same time.
