Grayshott Pottery has taken delivery of new machinery to its commercial arm, Grayshott Stoneware. The new machinery, which comprises a new kiln, a Dorst roller machine and a polishing machine, had to be craned into the Pottery over its roof, in order to find its place in the busy factory.
'We bought the refurbished equipment from the oldest pottery in the UK, the Spode factory in Stoke on Trent', said Ed Snell. 'Royal Worcester was made there up until about 2 years ago and now the 11 acre site is now up for development. Although we are really grateful that we could buy some very nice refurbished machinery, we are, at the same time, really saddened that yet another wonderful UK pottery has had to close.'
Grayshott Pottery and its Stoneware division plans to put the machinery to good use almost immediately with the making of restaurant ware for clients that include Zizzi Restaurants and also for Jamie Oliver.
