Everything is set for this years Grayshott Village Pantomime "Dickus Witticus" which takes to the stage at Grayshott Village Hall in just over one weeks time - and tickets are selling fast!
Loosely based on the traditional British pantomime Dick Whittington, which itself is part based on fact; Dickus Witticus follows the adventures of Dick (Kate Smille) and his cat Tom (Bryn Morgan) from the Italian countryside to ancient Rome, onwards to Egypt and then back to Rome.
Senna (Brian Archer), nursemaid and chief bottle washer in Senator Packing (Brian Flounders) and his wife's (Penny West) household offers Dick work as a kitchen slave but the evil King Rat (Nick Dawes) and his cohort of vermin Rats (Grayshott School Gold Class) cause him to depart accused of being a thief.
Following the advice of Dementia the Soothsayer (Frances Morgan), Dick & Tom sail to Cleopatra's (Sheila Smillie) Egypt, smiting the Rats and saving the ships cargo. Returning to Rome Dick is declared a hero and free man; finally winning the hand of his sweetheart Alyssa Packing (Karen McGowan).
The pantomime features Centurions, Gladiators, Sand Dancers, slaves galore and, of course, the ubiquitous scene about saving the old A3. Just don't mention the name Caesar you have been warned!
Written by Diana Lovelock and Directed by Kate Mackie; the pantomime features a cast of residents from Grayshott and the surrounding area, with Year 6 pupils from Grayshott Primary School. As with all good pantomimes there is a traditional mixture of song, dance, slap-stick and audience participation.
Performances are at Grayshott Village Hall on Friday 13th March at 7.30pm and Saturday 14th March at 2pm and 5pm. Tickets are available from Grayshott Books; Adult £7, Children and Concessions £5.
