Staff at Grayshott-based Horse&Rider and PONY Magazines at D J Murphy Publishers put down their laptops in favour of the glitz and glamour found at a Brooke Glitz & Glamour party. In celebration of the charity's 75th anniversary, the Brooke is asking supporters to host a 1930s style GG party to raise funds to help hard-working horses and donkeys in the poorest parts of the world.

Keen supporter and Commercial Director of D J Murphy Publishers, Marion O'Sullivan MBE, welcomed guests to her home as she hosted the first GG party. Magazine staff, local Brooke supporters and the marketing team from the Brooke queued up for tickets, and joined in the fun by dressing in 1930's glitz and glamour outfits. After a wonderful summer's evening BBQ, Horse&Rider and PONY Magazine raised over £300 for the charity.

Anyone wanting to find out more about the Brooke's GG party campaign should log onto www.ggparty.org for a free registration pack and lots of great ideas for fundraisers.

About The Brooke

The Brooke is the UK's leading overseas equine welfare charity and our aim is to improve the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world. These animals form the backbone of the economy in many developing countries, supporting countless poor communities where many people earn less than a dollar a day.

The Brooke's mobile vet teams and community animal health workers, and our partner organisations worldwide, provide free treatment to animals and train animal owners, local healers, farriers, saddlers, feed sellers, harness and cart makers. We currently operate across ten countries in Asia, Africa, Central America and the Middle East.

The enormous difference the Brooke makes is thanks to the kindness of our supporters and the dedication, care and compassion of our local vets and community workers. Their work is underpinned by unique and proven methods developed with Bristol University Veterinary School. The Brooke have over 800 highly-skilled staff working directly in the field.

Their goal is that by 2016, Brooke will have increased the number of working animals we reach from 700,000 to measurably improving the lives of 2 million suffering horses, donkeys and mules who need our help most in the world.
