6th dec - Star Attractions at Grayshott Christmas Market - Star actresses Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson made a surprise visit to the Grayshott Christmas Market on Saturday and stole the show. Before paying a visit to see Santa in his Magical Grotto, Joely, speaking to a packed village hall of shoppers thanked Grayshott for making them feel so welcome and promptly received a round of thunderous applause. more...

4th dec - Arthritis Care Grayshott Christmas Lunch - With the village hall already decorated for Christmas we welcomed more than 50 members for our annual seasonal lunch. Everyone enjoyed a glass of wine or fruit juice as they settled themselves at the festive tables complete with beautiful centre pieces made by committee member Carol Hampshire. more...

24th nov - Sue celebrates 40 years with Grayshott Pottery - Shoppers and visitors to Grayshott Pottery and its gift shop were caught up in a surprise presentation this week. On Wednesday, Gift Shop Manager, Sue Fisher, was presented with a specially iced cake and a huge bouquet of flowers, by Managing Director Ed Snell, in the middle of the store in front of staff and friends at Grayshott Pottery to celebrate her 40th year at the Pottery. more...

19th nov - Christmas Treats at Applegarth Open Evening - On Friday 21st November Applegarth will be holding its first Christmas open evening, showcasing some of its delicious Christmas foods and treats. "We've got some fantastic local producers joining us including our turkey farmer, a chocolate truffle making demonstration and enough free mulled wine to sink a ship!" says Applegarth owner Will Benson "Please join us at Applegarth for a glass of mulled wine and festive cheer this Friday from 6pm to 9pm. more...

11th nov - St Luke's Grayshott Organ Appeal scales up towards its target - In only a few weeks, the St Luke's Organ Appeal has reached over halfway towards its target of £15,000, thanks to the generosity of local people. Treasurer John Haine announced on Monday that the Appeal had achieved well over £8,000 from donations so far, with more arriving every day. Chairman of the fund-raising committee, Gordon Sanderson, is delighted with progress. "This total is excellent news and we've plenty of fresh ideas... more...

11th nov - Tricks and Treats at the Fox & Pelican - The Fox & Pelican in Grayshott pulled out all the tricks and treats at their Halloween bash which turned out to be a very enjoyable and successful evening for all. The Party was organised in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and nearly £300 was raised through the generosity of the Fox & Pelican and their regular loyal customers and friends. more...

10th nov - Keep Warm This Winter - Keep out the chill this winter with a series of schemes designed to keep homes heated and energy bills low. In a bid to counter the combined effects of the credit crunch and soaring utility bills East Hampshire District Council will be running roadshows around the area promoting a range of energy-saving ideas. The schemes will help home-owners insulate their houses at a reduced price, install solar panels and even receive money off their next council tax bill. more...

6th nov - Arthritis Care Grayshott November Meeting - Nearly 40 members gathered in the village hall for this months meeting and it took some time to prise them away from the very well stocked sales and raffles tables so that Chairman Sybil Saunders could get the afternoon under way. Before welcoming back our speaker Gordon Gale Sybil had a few 'neighbourly' notices. She urged everyone to apply for the energy saving light bulbs which are available to those over 70 and then went on to warn us... more...

25th oct - Beacon Hill Charity Partnership - The Beacon Hill British Legion Club and The Woodcock Inn have joined forces this year in raising money for the Guildford Undetected Tumour Screening for Bowl Cancer charity, GUTS. Fund raising for the Charity started over 23 years ago in memory of Phil Love who died at an early life of cancer. Over £18,000 has been raised by the efforts of Phil's friends and relations and those that support GUTS. more...

8th oct - Grayshott Business wins Awards - The staff at Lloyds Pharmacy in Grayshott were delighted when it was announced at the Company's Annual Conference held in Basingstoke that they had achieved the 'Best over the Counter Sales' record in the South East region. Nick Storey, the Regional Manager, who presented the award, said how pleased he was at the progress the branch had made, and to have the best record competing against 50 other outlets was truly outstanding. more...

1st oct - 'Small change' Pottery Pig donations result in £100,000 plus for GUTS! - A staggering £100,000 has been collected from 'PIG' collecting points around Surrey & Hants in aid of local charity GUTS over the last 20 years, it has been revealed this week, and it could be even more. Local Guildford charity GUTS, was set up in 1983 by Professor Chris Marks, to 'improve the survival of people with bowel cancer by early detection'. more...

16th jul - Grayshott Gardeners Summer Show - The Grayshott Gardeners staged their summer show on Saturday July 12 in the Village Hall. The entry fee of 50p was immediately repaid by the sight and smell of the flowers that occupied the centre of the hall. 1st jul - Grayshott's SeaRaj opens for Sunday lunch party bookings - Grayshott's SeaRaj is opening its doors for Sunday lunchtime bookings. The move comes from customer requests to host group parties and already Don Kamali, the owner of the SeaRaj has experimented with one-off pre-ordered lunches. 23rd jun - The Temperance Seven will jazz-up Grayshott's Sunday Funday - Grayshott's mid-summer celebration takes place on Sunday 29th June and culminates with a performance by The Temperance Seven. With hits including 'You're Driving Me Crazy' and 'Pasadena', T7 achieved national fame during the 60's. 23rd jun - A Challenge for Grayshott's Puzzle Fans - If you're into puzzling, you might just recall that a certain Grayshott resident appeared in local papers and on television about 18 months ago, claiming to have invented the "World's Hardest Puzzle". 8th jun - Grayshott Golfers Celebrate Success - Grayshott resident Nick Butt is celebrating this week, after winning this year's annual Grayshott Golfing Tournament sponsored by Grayshott Pottery. Nick, who manages the Social Club in Grayshott was elated by his win and said,'"This win is a first for me and even better because I was up against 20 really great local golfers. 16th may - Life in Blue Jackets and Pines - Grayshott stepped back in time on Saturday to pay tribute to famous Grayshott resident Dame Agnes Weston. Highly regarded for her charitable work with serving Royal Navy servicemen and their families during the latter part of Victorian times, residents, businesses and members of local clubs and societies joined the celebrations and the unveiling of a blue plaque at Dame Agnes's house 'Ensleigh' in Crossways Road, Grayshott. more...

12th may - Stagers' treat for Noel Coward fans - Grayshott Stagers gave Noel Coward aficionados a real treat with their production of Cowardy Custard at the village hall over four nights from 23rd to 26th April. Telling the story of Coward's life through song and biographical snippets, the revue features songs and scenes from the 1920s to the 1960s, including I'll See, You Again, London Pride, Mad Dogs and Englishmen and A Room with a View. more...

22nd apr - Grayshott Gardeners Spring Show - The Grayshott Gardeners put on their Spring Show in the Grayshott Village Hall on Saturday 12 April on a typical April day of sun and showers. The day saw a record number of 331 entries, which far exceeded the 198 entries in the previous year. The warm January followed by hard frosts and even a sprinkling of snow had not affected the quality of the exhibits and reminded some of the more mature members of the winters they and their plants had enjoyed? in times past. more...

26th mar - Grayshott Firefighter visits No10 - Local Firefighter Mark Brittain from Grayshott Fire & Rescue was invited to a reception at Downing street recently. Mark was a nominated for The Spirit of Fire Awards which is the UK Fire Services premier event recognising bravery and dedication in the Fire Services community. The Prime Minister personally addressed all the nominees and then met with them at a reception in the state rooms of Downing Street. more...

12th mar - Hindhead Together exhibition display extended - After two very busy days for last week, the Concept Statement display has now gone to Haslemere Town Hall. Following this it will go to Beacon Hill to give people another chance to see the ideas for redevelopment of the London Road area. The Hindhead Together Partnership wants the local community involved in agreeing on possible opportunities for development within the context of the historical, cultural and environmental assets of the area. more...

9th mar - Have your say at Local Community Forum - The people of Grayshott, Headley, Whitehill, Bordon, and Lindford will have a chance to put forward their views on the future of their area at the next meeting of their local Community Forum, being held in the Liphook Millenium Centre at 6.30pm on Tuesday 18 March. This is the last of the four Community Forums at which East Hampshire District Council is asking residents for their views. These will then be incorporated into the Community Strategy that guides joint work by councils, police, health services and voluntary agencies. more...

29th feb - Affordable housing boost for Grayshott - East Hampshire District Council is delighted that a small-scale development of affordable housing is to be provided in the village of Grayshott to address the housing needs of some local people. This year will see the completion of two houses and two bungalows in the village. Following development funding of £196,000 from the Housing Corporation, Drum Housing Association started on site in January at Beech Hanger End. 5th feb - The Great Grayshott Pancake Race A very blustery Shrove Tuesday in Grayshott battered the eighteen brave contestants as they took part in the Great Grayshott Pancake Race held in The Village Square. A crowd of supporters and onlookers cheered on the runners whilst they negotiated the course around the square whilst flipping their pancakes as the wind tried to whip them away. After five close heats and semi finals the eventual winner, just beating Peter Harrison from Grayshott Concerts into a close second, was Chee-Man Chan pictured centre above who, representing Dinomite magazine produced by Grayshott based Signature Publishing, had dressed for the occasion.more...

4th feb - 2007 Best Dressed Shop in Grayshott Awards Dinner Last night (Sunday 3rd February) saw the exciting finale of the awards for the best dressed shop in Grayshott 2007. Judging is done twice a year, in spring and autumn, with marks awarded for cleanliness, shop display and general shop appearance.
