The Buy in Grayshott campaign (BIG) were delighted to present the new vicar of St Luke's Church, Grayshott, Rev Moray Thomas with a cheque for £500 towards the cost of remedial work required on the church organ.
Rev Moray said how pleased he was to receive the wonderful donation, which was a huge step towards the amount needed. He added that it was the first cheque that he has had the pleasure to accept in his new Ministry This was an exciting time for him and he had been amazed at the amount of support he had already had in his short time in Grayshott. He was looking forward to his involvement in the village and hoped to meet as many people as possible.
Dick Smith, chairman of BIG, said that the funds had been raised by a charity golf tournament. He was surprised to find out that Moray was in fact an accomplished golfer and added that he would look forward to his support at the next charity match; and ensure that he would be teamed up with him, as his game needed a fair share of divine guidance!
He added that the church organ is in fact an extremely good one and quite rare. Due to its age there is a considerable amount of work required to restore it to its original condition, which will cost about £15,000. Fund raising is being ORGANised by Gordon Sanderson, who would be very pleased to have any help possible to raise the needed funding, and can be contacted via St Luke's Church Offices in Headley Road, Grayshott.
