What a season it has been for the young players of Grayshott Cricket Club. The Club set out on a new venture this year, entering an Under 15 side into the South East District of the Hampshire Youth League as well as entering teams at all age groups in the Two Counties Youth League.

After winning their Division in the Two Counties League remaining unbeaten, they lost to Farnham in the final. In the South East Hants District League though, the boys won 9 of their 10 games to finish top of the East Division 'B'.

The Shotts then had to face the unbeaten winners of both the Central and West Divisions, Portsmouth and Sarisbury respectively to win the League outright. This they did with some excellent team performances, a feature of their cricket this year.

Although Grayshott's Under 15 squad has not been a large one this year, many of the boys have played together as a group through the younger age groups at the club and their commitment to the Club, each other and their willingness to train hard and improve their skills has resulted in this success. Nearly all of the squad are at Woolmer Hill or Bohunt and have become regulars in Grayshott's adult I'Anson Cup Competition sides on a Saturday in the 2nd, 3rd and the newly formed 4th XI this season.

This has been the final jewel in the crown this year as only published recently, Grayshott's Under 9 side won for the second successive year the Alan Staves Cup becoming Two Counties Youth League Champions remaining unbeaten all season.

Grayshott's Under 11 team were unbeaten and won their Division in the Two Counties Youth League losing to Guildford in the final.

After being the first Club in Hampshire to renew their Clubmark Accreditation, 2008 has been a tremendous season for the Club. You can learn more about the Club at their excellent website which has a new look now and has recently been nominated for a Hantsweb award.
