Organisers of Grayshott Concerts are used to seeing tickets for their events selling quickly, but all previous records have now been smashed. Tickets for their next event went on sale on Monday 1st September and by Tuesday 2nd, they had effectively sold out.
The attraction is the young virtuoso violinist, Chloe Hanslip (20), winner of the prestigeous 'Young Classical Brits Award', who has been persuaded to come to Grayshott to perform Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' with the famous London Mozart Players. The concert starts at 7.30pm on Saturday 1st November at St Luke's Church Grayshott. Chloe, who was born in Guildford, started playing at age 2 and performed for Yehudi Menuhin at 5. Many believe her to be the best violinist of her generation with some predicting that she has the talent to become another Menuhin or Kennedy. She has agreed to meet concert-goers after the event and sign copies of her CDs.
News of the event leaked out months ago so organisers were obliged to confirm her appearance in Newsletters and Concert programmes as far back as April. A number of local concert enthusiasts have become members of 'Friends of Grayshott Concerts' in order to qualify for priority booking and to be placed on the reservation List. Artistic Director, Vivien Harrison, explained: "We don't normally start selling tickets until a couple of months before an event, but we have had to operate a reservation list for some time now, simply to cope with demand. It seems that the more ambitious we are in bringing top artists to Grayshott, the faster the tickets sell out."
Sponsor Mark Cutmore-Scott, Managing Director of Cain Manor, the exclusive wedding venue in Headley Down agreed: "It's great to support such a successful event and help to make Grayshott a 'Centre of Excellence' for classical music."
But those who have not yet managed to get tickets should not despair. Marketing Director, Peter Harrison, said that there are usually a number of returns through illness or family commitments. "If you'd like tickets, please ring us on 01428 606666 or pop into Blaze House Art, Grayshott, and we'll do the best we can for you." he said. "There are a few 'restricted vision' seats at reduced prices - and the acoustics are wonderful. It's going to be a fantastic evening!"
Grayshott Concerts are now planning a Christmas Celebration Concert in aid of the St Luke's Church Organ, "It's Christmas with Excelsis and the Choristers of St Edmunds". For more information, ring 01428 606666.
