On Remembrance Sunday The Grayshott Society donated a Memorial hardwood bench sited next to the Cenotaph at St Josephs Church in Grayshott. A blessing and dedication of the bench was performed on Sunday morning and those present included members of the Grayshott Royal British Legion.
The bench is in remembrance and dedicated to the Canadian Servicemen who trained at Bramshott Camp and died during the first and second world wars. There are 95 Servicemen buried at St Josephs and the memorial bench is positioned to over look the head stones.
The money for the bench was raised through sponsorship by Phil Bates Vice Chairman of the Grayshott Society who took part in the recent " Grayshott Boundary Walk" which is a 12 kilometre walk around the Village enabling groups and charities to raise money.
Phil said "The Grayshott Society was very pleased to take on this deserving initiative and he was personally pleased to take an active part in raising the funds of nearly £600 for the cost of the bench, the engraved plaque and fixing costs.
Phil went on to say he would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to all the individuals who sponsored him and to The Grayshott Social Club who raised £100 from their members".
