Keep out the chill this winter with a series of schemes designed to keep homes heated and energy bills low.
In a bid to counter the combined effects of the credit crunch and soaring utility bills East Hampshire District Council will be running roadshows around the area promoting a range of energy-saving ideas.
The schemes will help home-owners insulate their houses at a reduced price, install solar panels and even receive money off their next council tax bill.
Stephen Edmonds, East Hampshire District Council's Private Sector Housing Officer, said winter is always a tough time, especially for some of the more vulnerable groups in the community.
'The current financial crisis might cause people to cut back on their heating bills this winter but if they take advantage of one of these helpful schemes they needn't be left in the cold,' he said.
'There are lots of different ways people can help themselves keep warm and cut down on their bills too. And when you're looking out for the environment it always pays to be energy efficient.
'We're aiming these schemes primarily at the over 60s and disabled people who may not be so mobile and will rely on their homes being warm.
'But most people will be able to take advantage of at least one of these schemes so it is worth checking it out.'
Schedule of EHDC's future roadshows:
Alton, Sainsbury's - Wednesday 12 November
Liphook, Sainsbury's - Wednesday 19 November
Horndean, Morrison's - Wednesday 26 November
