Not content with staging just one opera, 'Madama Butterfly' in Grayshott on 12th July, organisers Peter and Vivien Harrison, the inspirations behind the highly successful Grayshott Concerts series, are planning another - one of the most unusual and glittering events ever to be held in the district.
For one night only, 19th September at 7.30pm, they are working with East Hampshire's Conservative Association to bring together three stars of the Opera, each with an international reputation, to sing some of the world's best known love songs, arias and duets, as performed in the leading opera houses of the world.
The occasion, called 'Gala Night at the Opera' will create a scintillating and memorable summer evening of well-known operatic highlights, reminiscent of Covent Garden, Glyndebourne or La Scala Milan.
Under the baton of David Gibson, conducting the New London Sinfonia, the stars Erica Eloff (Soprano), Lynton Atkinson (Tenor) and Nicholas Warden (Bass) will transform the historic Tithe Barn at Ditcham, near Petersfield, into Hampshire's own prestigeous Opera House for the evening.
'I'm so excited that it's all coming together so well,' said Deputy Chairman Glynis Watts, who is arranging the event. 'Peter and Vivien have a string of musical successes behind them and this one is sure to be another winner' said Glynis.
The £85.00 black tie event, which includes a sparkling reception, and light elegant supper with wine, will be sponsored by a number of local organisations and supporters.
Tickets and more information are available now from Beverley Carpenter on Credit Card Line 01420 84122.
